Backlash against unrealistic images of women
Now, this does not in any way help me attain any of my 100 days of goals, but it is worth sharing, if only to point out the response of Boing Boing.
Way to go website, now please feed the models no matter the response of Ralph Lauren.
lucubration
lucubration \loo-kyoo-BRAY-shun; loo-kuh-\ , noun: 1. The act of studying by candlelight; nocturnal study; meditation. 2. That which is composed by night; that which is produced by meditation in retirement; hence (loosely) any literary composition.
I’m often guilty of lucubration. Somehow thoughts are deeper and ideas more potent when its dark outside, and you have time to dwell on things.
God I miss Caffeine
So, I’m giving up caffeine for 7 days because Social Workout asked me to. And now I have my nearest coworker on alarm duty in case I doze off. And now I find out that this can last 9 days!!!!!!!
so…according to this article…I’m not addicted, but I am suffering a pyschiatric disorder?? Geez, and all because of a little coffee.
**I use emphasis because I’m falling asleep and the extra effort keeps me awake**
esurient
hungry; greedy
I was esurient, waiting for the bowl of chili that could not be enjoyed until noon.
I’m enjoying these words that sound pretentious.
eldritch
weird, eerie
A perfect word for when you feel unsettled, possibly watched, but there is nothing specific to be found. Or if you’re around a lot of elves.
"A good cook is like a sorceress who dispenses happiness."
Elsa Schiaparelli, care of Foodimentary
winnow
to get rid of something undesirable; to separate the wheat from the chaff with a current of air
I’ve never heard this word before, but I like the idea of being able to winnow out the good from the bad. I imagine it would be useful for large groups of people…”The party began to naturally winnow out the interesting from the boring”. Or something equally pretentious.
I love that they were so simple with the Mad, Sad, Happy (should have been glad), and then threw in the word sycophant.
